First Day of School!

Well, Zack finally made it to school. After almost a month of going back and forth and waiting to be invited he started his first day at Ursuline Prep today. The Prep (as it is called) is located on an extremely narrow street with little or no parking..that creates some challenges for me. Luckily, Doug joined us on the first day and we made it on-time.

Zack is in Reception Class A. There are about 20 kids in his class. He looks so darn cute in his uniform I can hardly take it! He was great about getting ready this morning and was excited to put on his trousers, shirt and jumper (sweater). He was also excited about his plimsoles (tennis shoes). Believe it or not, we were unable to find dress shoes at the mall...yes, the mall...had no shoes stores for kids. So, Zack went to school today in his plimsoles..no biggie. We got him new shoes today and now he is all set.

He had an excellent day. I was about 45 minutes early to pick him up..I wanted to make sure I could find somewhere to park (I did some impressive parellel parking I must say). His teacher said he did "brilliant". He wasn't too talkative about his day (just like his dad;) but said he made a friend and wanted to go back tomorrow..all good signs:)

Sightseeing

So far we have gone to Brighton..which is a shore town. Had a bit of an Atlantic City feel (even though I have never been to Atlantic City). Fat Boy Slim was playing at the beach that day so the crowd was a little rowdy. Those Brits do like their drink. It was a BEAUTIFUL day though and it was fun to watch Zack on all the rides. Lots of amusement park games too. We are not as good at the claw game as Uncle Dan. There was a game where you put in a pence and tried to push the other coins forward..I know I am not explaining it well, but it was very addicting.

The next day we took a ride to Windsor Castle. Took about 45 minutes to get there, which was really cool. The Castle was immense. Another beautiful day to look around. No cameras were allowed inside the castle. I had been reading the books about the Boleyn's and watching the Tudor's, so it was really neat to see inside. We saw Henry VIII's armour at the end of his reign...you could see how big he got.

The next weekend we made it to IKEA..I know, not a sight to see, but important anyway:)

We took our first trip into London on the tube. It took 25 minutes to get to the Kensington Street station..where all the museums were. We checked out the Museum of History. The camera was out of batteries, so no pics. It was in a very large, impressive building...would have been worth the trip just to see the building...the architecture and history here is amazing. Zack liked the dinosaurs and the blue whale the best. It was a fun day.

Football

Zack had his first UK Football practice Saturday. Overall, it went quite well. He was in the group for 4 and 5 year olds. They were darn cute. They matched up the kids and had them try to score on one another. Zack's opponent wasn't paying attention and never went on the "pitch" (field). Needless to say, Zack scored a goal. It was very good for his ego:)

The funniest part was when Bradley, his coach, told him to spread out during their game of 3-on-3...Zack spread WAY out and ran on to the other pitch and started to play in their game:)

There was a ball to the face which caused some tears and he got super tired at the end of the session, but all in all he really liked it. We went and got his soccer shoes (boots, as they call them) and some shin guards. Watch out next week!
